October 8, 2024In May 2024, Toledo Integrated Systems hosted an Open House to celebrate a new manufacturing and sales facility. To commemorate this occasion, our Service Manager, Del Critchley presented to attendees on Tonnage Monitoring Systems and their functionality.
Tonnage Monitoring Systems measure the force exerted by a press while completing a cycle. Its purpose is to stop the machine from hard hits and overexertion, extending the life of your press and dies.
During his presentation, Del discussed the importance of maximizing the use of tonnage monitoring systems and training individuals to use them properly.
Del is a seasoned industry professional, in the game since 1981. His years of experience allowed him to see how the industry has changed with new technological advancements. He recalled that there used to be an incredibly high level of error hindering the overall production processes and the quality of work. For example, he shared that several alarms and electrical systems would misfire.
Over the years, these systems have been refined with expert evaluation and new technological advancements. Now, "The tonnage monitor provides a safe standard to go by." Utilizing these systems now provides an efficient and safe production process that allows manufacturers to produce quality products at a faster pace.
Del's closing statements encompassed his message in its entirety. He said:
"Spread the knowledge, Give knowledge to protect the tooling, and the presses will save money. Give operators training, they can help make the program effective."
